Video: Belfast sinkhole closes Malone Road
A busy main road in south Belfast was closed off on Sunday night after the emergence of a pothole sparked fears of possible subsidence.
The Malone Road was still closed off on Monday morning between Wellington Park Avenue and Eglantine Avenue.
Paul Conlon, bar manager at The Barking Dog pub/restaurant on Malone Road, said police closed the road off last night.
"They came in and asked anyone who had cars parked outside to move them.
"I think they were concerned because there are sewers running under the road.
"It didn't have any major impact on business - it just caused a bit of inconvenience for customers booking taxis," he said.
