Video: Forest Feast filters in on Snapchat as part of six-figure investment in digital

Craigavon-based premium dried fruit and nut snack company Kestrel Foods Ltd, which currently exports to 36 countries worldwide, is to invest more than £100,000 in digital in a bid to grow its national and international footprint for its Forest Feast brand.

The money will be spent over the next three years, up-weighting its resources across digital and online marketing and advertising.

As part of its refreshed digital focus, Forest Feast launched its presence on the increasingly popular Snapchat social media app at last weekend’s Tesco Taste Festival which coincided with the launch of its new Crunchy Coated Peas range. Growing at a relentless pace, with more than 150m daily active users, Snapchat was strategically identified as the perfect platform to launch Crunchy Coated Peas due to its high usage amongst 18-24 year olds. Aimed at the youth audience, Crunchy Coated Pease were created in response to the growing consumer trend toward vegetable based snacks as a healthier alternative to crisps and were officially launched at Tesco Taste NI in three contemporary flavours: Smokin’ Barbeque, Spicy Chilli Lime and Hot and Sour Sriracha.

The Crunchy Coated Peas packaging features contemporary Japanese animation inspired characters to create an experience filled with fun and adventure. As part of its adoption of Snapchat, Forest Feast developed three bespoke geofilters for the Tesco Northern Ireland Taste Festival which allowed users to attach, location-based geofilter overlay images to their photographs when in the vicinity of the Forest Feast stand. The Forest Feast Snapchat filters allowed the users to become one of the three Crunchy Coated Peas characters using the illustrations of characters that frame the Snapchat screen.

The launch of the new Snapchat app will sit alongside the brand’s robust digital marketing strategy to launch Crunchy Coated Peas. Over the course of the Tesco Taste NI festival, followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were encouraged with prize incentives to add the username ‘forestfeast’ on Snapchat and to cast a vote to name the Crunchy Coated Peas animation characters via Facebook & Twitter using the hashtag #thenamegame.
