Looking for some festive fun this season? Why not try and make your own alternative Christmas decorations.
It is something many of us see on various social networking sites and we share the videos but don’t actually have the time to sit down and make the decorations.
Jen Rea, the owner of Ink Monkey, art supply store on North Street in Belfast decided to give this a go.
She came across a tutorial on pinterest, a virtual tool that provides you with ideas, based on your own interests.
Giant snowflakes were the challenge Jen took on, she said: “It is very addictive once you do your first one.
“It is really simple, my first attempt turned out pretty good and it took me about half-an-hour.
“It is something fun that you can do with the kids over Christmas and also a bit of fun for students. You get a lot of satisfaction from making them yourself, instead of buying them from a shop.”
All you need is some A4 card, preferably the same colour both sides, a stapler, a ruler and scissors. If you are feeling brave, and really want to be in the Christmas spirit, use some Christmas paper.
Don’t worry if you can’t make the giant snowflake on your first attempt, watch the video to see how Jen makes them, and if you are really stuck you can pop into Ink Monkey for a bit of help.
