Video: Humanitarian organisation reports on needs of South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia

Since violence broke out in South Sudan in mid-December 2013, tens of thousands of people have been killed; and about one million South Sudanese have been forced to flee their homes. According to humanitarian organisation GOAL “Approximately one million people have been displaced; and another 254,000 have fled to neighbouring countries. There are close to 100,000 South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia. It is estimated that up to 2,000 South Sudanese refugees are crossing into Ethiopia each day. The number of refugees is growing at such a rate the UN is predicting that Ethiopia will be hosting 200,000 by the end of 2014. The UN are now predicting than an imminent famine resulting from the ongoing conflict in South Sudan could cost the lives of upwards of 50,000 children under the age of five before the end of 2014.” Credit: YouTube\GOAL
