Video: Man shot in legs in 'horrific' west Belfast attack may have been 'by appointment' say police

Police are appealing for information after a man was shot in both legs in West Belfast on Tuesday night.

The paramilitary-style shooting happened at approximately 10pm on the Monagh Road, in Turf Lodge.

Chief Superintendent, Chris Noble said: “There has been an increase in West Belfast over the last year, over double the amount of paramilitary style shootings, that said across Belfast we have seen an overall reduction but it is very clear that there is an intention from some people in West Belfast to try and exercise control which clearly no one in West Belfast wants and in fact in many ways just drags the good name of West Belfast down because of their activities.”

The man, in his 20s, is now in stable condition in hospital, Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

If you have any information you can call the PSNI on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
