Rose Week returns in full bloom ahead of the International Rose Trials that take place from Monday 18 July to Sunday 24 July.
Newly crowned Miss Northern Ireland, Emma Carswell joined Councillor Matt Garrett, Chairman of the council’s People and Communities Committee to launch the event in the midst of the many roses that will be on display.
Councillor Matt Garrett said: “To have one of the world’s leading Rose gardens based in Belfast is absolutely fantastic and it’s great that we get to celebrate this annually with our ever popular Rose Week in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.
“This family friendly event has something for everyone to enjoy and access to the event couldn’t be easier as there is a free shuttle bus running from Belfast City Hall to the event every 20 minutes.”
He added: “I would encourage as many people as possible to avail of this and come down to soak up the colour and ‘feel good’ atmosphere that our annual Rose Week offers.”
The Belfast International Rose Trials will take place on Thursday 21 July, with judges from across the globe flying into pick the winning rose.
