Video: Monument to Steve Jobs removed from St Petersburg University

A memorial to Steve Jobs was removed from the grounds of St Petersburg’s National Research University of Information Technologies after Jobs’s successor at Apple, Tim Cook, revealed he was gay. The monument, shaped like an oversized iPhone and erected in 2013, was removed on Friday, October 31, according to reports. A statement released to Ekho Moskvy by the memorial’s original sponsor, businessman Maxim Dolgopolov, cited Russia’s laws around “homosexual propaganda” as the reason for its removal. “Russian legislation prohibits propaganda of homosexuality and other sexual perversions among minors,” said the statement.
