Video: NATO warships docked in Belfast for brief Northern Ireland visit

Commodore Ole Morten Sandquist led two ships from his Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) to Belfast on Friday morning, his own vessel, the Norwegian frigate Roald Amundsen and Spanish frigate ESPS Reina Sofia.

The ships and their crew are enjoying a brief break in Northern Ireland this weekend after completing the UK’s tri-service multinational exercise Joint Warrior 17-1 (JW 171) off the north west coast of Scotland.

The 160-strong crew on the ship includes several different nationalities including British, American, German, Danish, Belgian as well as Norwegian.

They will enjoy the weekend in Belfast before moving on to Edinburgh for another port visit early next week.
