Video: Northern Ireland Science Festival is all about the bang theory of sport

The second Northern Ireland Science Festival is underway at the W5 in the Odyssey Pavilion, Belfast.

W5 has teamed up with Queen's University, Ulster University, Sport Northern Ireland's Sports Institute, the Greenpower Education Trust and others to create interactive sports exhibits, displays, inspirational talks, demonstrations and workshops.

A full-size Formula One car gives visitors 13 years and over the chance to take part in virtual races.

Other simulations on display feature rugby, basketball, golf and football

Chris McCreery, Festival Director, said: "Science is all around us - from the sports we enjoy to the food we eat.

"Last year - the first year it was held - was an amazing success. We've built on that and reckon we've came up with more than 120 different events that will appeal to young and old alike."

The Festival continues until February 28.
