As people in Northern Ireland are marking two of their most important centenaries this year, a new survey discovers a younger generation's attitude towards internationalisation and language learning.
ARK’s annual Young Life and Times (YLT) survey asked 1,156 16-year-olds. The study found that these teenagers have a strong desire to work abroad, and thought that learning an additional language was beneficial for their future.
Out of those surveyed, we chose 20 16-year-olds to take part in a focus group, to learn more about their opinions on cultural life in Northern Ireland, learning languages and aspirations to study, live and work abroad.
