Video: Queen's University Belfast students continuing sit-in protest over fossil fuel links

11 Students are occupying a room in the Queens University Belfast (QUB) Administration building. The Group called "Fossil Free QUB" has been there 3 days in protest of QUB's failure to divest themselves of fossil fuels.

Speaking out of a window on the second floor of the administration building, Sean Fearon, a recent graduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), explained the groups demands, "Firstly, and immediate freeze to all new investments...secondly a public statement pledging to divest to a low-carbon future with the students union and QUB, thirdly we want QUB to agree to a timetable with us to to divest themselves of all fossil fuels by 2020."

The Group has been there 3 days and has only recently been allowed food and water to be brought to them after pressure from councillors.

The interview with Sean had to be done via the window in the block as the university weren't allowing access to the building or radio microphones to be sent up via a bag on a string on a account of "health and safety" according to the security guard on site.
