Radiographers in Northern Ireland joined a UK-wide strike over pay and conditions. Members of the Society of Radiographers gathered outside Belfast City Hospital, home to the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre, in the latest NHS staff walkout. The strike is being held due to an ongoing pay freeze and also because the government rejected a recommended 1% pay rise. Gill Hodges, UK Council member for Northern Ireland, said: ‘Patient care will continue as normal today in Belfast City Hospital and will not be affected by this picket line’. This strike happened one week after thousands of NHS staff including nurses and midwives went on strike last Monday.
