Video: Restoration of Belfast's Carlisle Memorial Church begins

It lay decaying for years, home only to pigeons and the ferns which have colonised its walls. Now, restoration work has started on a church that has the dubious honour of being the first Belfast building on a list of the 100 world monuments under greatest threat. Carlisle Memorial Church - dubbed the Cathedral of Irish Methodism - was added to the 2010 World Monuments Watch List as decay took hold. But yesterday Belfast Buildings Trust (BBT) launched the first phase of renovation work with a visit from project funders, who have come up with £850,000 for the vital work.
