‘The Dark Experience’ kicked off today at Belfast Activity Centre as The Royal National Institute of Blind People in Northern Ireland (RNIB NI) held its first social enterprise venture.
Top businessmen and woman from Northern Ireland took part in the Dark Experience, on arrival they were blind-folded and provided with a white cane so they could fully experience what it’s like to be visually impaired.
Tasks included pouring a glass of water and finding the correct amount of money to purchase an item in the shop.
MBE Janet Gray is the first blind person to take part in the course, Janet said: “It was very good, the leader at the front was talking and we followed his voice and each other.
“For myself, as a blind person, I follow footsteps and the change in gravel and texture. I think everyone worked very well together.”
