The Royal County Down course is a tougher test than the US Open, according to Graham McDowell.
The Portrush man - who finished on 291, seven above par - said the reality was that it was just a very tough course.
"I think this is going to be tougher than the US Open. I can't see how it gets any tougher than this. It was a unique test.
"I grew up in this stuff (links) and I would be the first to admit I don't know how to play this anymore.
"You lose the creativity and art form that is playing golf in the wind," he said.
