Video: Schools Cup - Sullivan Upper beat Banbridge Academy 2-1

There were tears of joy and jubilant celebrations on the pitch after Sullivan Upper won the Senior Schools' Hockey Cup for the first time. The Holywood school defeated Banbridge Academy 2-1 in the showcase final of the competition, which was sponsored by the Belfast Telegraph.

Speaking minutes after the final whistle at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, Sullivan captain Zara Malseed said: "I'm so pleased for all the girls. We've trained and worked hard for this. It's hard to take in. I'm so happy right now."

Sullivan made it to the final in 2008 but lost out on that occasion.

For Banbridge Academy today was their first final appearance.

Banbridge coach Neil Madeley congratulated Sullivan on their success but was full of praise for his team.

"Sullivan played well and took their chances and are worthy winners - but our girls gave them a great match. Obviously they are bitterly disappointed to have lost, but we'll build on this successful season and we'll be back."
