Alliance Party Leader Naomi Long has described Sinn Fein's call for a public inquiry into the RHI heating debacle as 'farsical'.
Speaking at Parliament Buildings, she said: "It is almost laughable if it wasn't so serious.
"It is farcical that after being told by Sinn Fein and the DUP after about six weeks that suddenly there will be two inquiries coming along at once.
"We have had our institutions pushed to the brink. We are going to an election which will cost £5m and all because of the RHI scandal which could have been resolved by an inquiry back in December," she said.
