Senior Sinn Fein members on Monday voiced their respect for Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn who is at the centre of a media storm over his alleged failure to categorically condemn IRA violence.
Speaking in Dungannon at the launch of Sinn Fein's Westminster election manifesto launch, party president Gerry Adams said he regarded the issue as "a complete distraction."
"He (Jeremy Corbyn) recognised the rights of the people who voted for Sinn Fein. I think he has been vindicated by subsequent events, because where he led, others followed," said Mr Adams.
Michelle O'Neill, Sinn Fein's Northern Leader, insisted Mr Corbyn had been "on the right side of history."
"He engaged with Sinn Fein down through the years and respected our democratic mandate when others wouldn't," she said.
