Police have ruled out a paramilitary connection in the murder of a 28-year-old man in a south Belfast shooting last night
Up to four men are believed to have forced their way into a house in Walmer Street, near the Ormeau Road, and shot the man.
He has been named locally as Stephen Carson. He was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
Chief Superintendent Kevin Geddes described it as "a brutal, cold-blooded murder."
Police have issued an appeal for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who knows anything about this incident, to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
