Strangford solo sailor Andrew ‘Hammy’ Baker has been announced as the newest team member of a campaign to see the first Irish person complete a non stop, unassisted, lap of the globe.
Considered to be the Everest of sailing challenges.
Andrew is part of the team that will prepare the boat, optimise performance, and work with Skipper Enda O’Coineen ahead of the Vendee Globe Race in November.
He aspires to be the first Northern Irish sailor to compete in the Vendee Globe.
The race takes place every four years and involves a grueling lap of the planet, alone, through the Southern Ocean.
