Video: Tim Peake successfully docks at the International Space Station


The first British ESA astronaut to meet crew on the International Space Station has successfully docked.

Major Tim Peake launched today from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 11.03 (GMT), the rocket took approximately six hours to reach the ISS.

Tim will spend the next six months in Space, on his mission Principia where he will maintain the weightless research laboratory and run scientific experiments for researchers on Earth.

He leaves his family behind at Christmas, but Tim will get a nice surprise on Christmas Day on the ISS.
