A charity appeal set up for Joshua Baxter, a nine-year-old boy from Glengormley with a medical illness causing him to have serious facial disfigurement, is to benefit from this year's Gareth Maybin Pro-Am Tournament. Gareth, along with other top local golfers including Michael Hoey, Gareth Shaw and Jonathan Caldwell, were on the fairways at Ballyclare Golf Club for the event, now in it's fourth year.
Gareth, who is an honorary member of the Ballyclare club, said: "We always try to benefit someone local when it comes to the charity aspect of the tournament and this year we're delighted to be helping little Joshua."
Colin Lyttle, the PGA professional at Ballyclare, added: Everyone has been really supportive. We have had great feedback from local celebrities who have donated items for the charity auction."
European Tour golfer Michael Hoey, who was among those taking part, said: "I'm very happy to be here and to be supporting such a worthwhile cause."
