Video: What Carson saw .... Red Bull Crashed Ice Belfast 2015

This wasn't what the stern men who erected Edward Carson's imposing statue would have had in mind - skaters whizzing past to rock music. But that was the scene outside Northern Ireland's Parliament when the Ice Cross World Downhill Championship staged a heat in Belfast, part of the Red Bull Crashed Ice series. 24,000 people watched 64 skaters battle to win the Belfast leg, the first time the event has been held outside of an arctic-style cold city. The success of the Northern Ireland event is likely to lead to Crashed Ice being held in other temperate locations. Canada’s Scott Croxall led his team “Living the Dream” to a resounding victory in front of a frozen but frenzied Belfast crowd that celebrated the arrival of the world’s fastest sport on skates in a breathtaking setting snaking down from the historic Parliament building.
