Snow brings weather warning for Northern Ireland

Winter is showing no signs of stopping just yet as a weather warning for snow is in place for Northern Ireland.

Tonight outbreaks of rain are likely to turn into sleet or snow in places.

And the weather warning will be in place from midnight on Wednesday until 10am that day.

It will impact County Antrim and County Down.

Initially it will hit higher grounds where 2 - 6 cm may accumulate and in lower areas a slushy cover of up to a centimetre is expected.

The Met Office is warning of difficult driving conditions overnight and into the Wednesday morning rush hour.

Chief Forecaster said: "The active frontal system which brings rain on Tuesday will increasingly come into contact with colder air, with the likelihood that it will start to turn to sleet or snow in places early on Wednesday.

"The situation is finely balanced, and the precipitation may remain as rain over parts of the area."
