Fashion spy hits the streets for a snoop about town

By Kerry McKittrick

Our reporter checks out the style in Victoria Square, Belfast and finds quite a few stylish people out and about.

Colette Logan (42)

Mortgage administrator, Belfast

Wore what? Coat, £100, Zara; dress, £46, Topshop; shoes, £75, Coast; bag, £30, TK Maxx.

Why? I like to dress up and wear bright colours. I don't go for short, tight skirts, though. I don't think they do anything for anyone and they look cheap.

Who? Coleen Rooney and Alex Curran always look well, but I don't like Jessie J – her style is a little too dark for me.

Andrea McBurney (41)

Librarian, Antrim

Wore what? Scarf, £10, Woven; shirt, £35, |Warehouse; jeans, £20, Red Herring; brogues, £25, House of Fraser; bag, £30, Nine West.

Why? I wear a lot of black but I’m trying to go for brighter colours now the summer is here. I don’t like seeing girls wearing very short shorts with their backsides on show.

Who? Kate Middleton has a nice, simple style, but Lady Gaga goes to the extreme, which I’m not keen on.

Kim Gallagher (23)

Student, Bangor

Wore what? Jumpsuit, £68, Topshop; boots, £50, Office; bag, £320, LK Bennett; jacket, £360, All Saints.

Why? I can be a bit of a posh rock chick and I go for high-end high street clothes. I don’t like denim jackets, though, they’re too casual.

Who? Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo are both really well dressed. I don’t like any of the girls from The Only Way Is Essex because they’re all too overdone.

  • Monthly spend £200

Niamh Mullan (23)

Student, Belfast

Wore what? Jumpsuit, £25 and sandals, £18, Warehouse; bag, £40, TK Maxx.

Why? My style is quite comfortable and a little alternative — I prefer to be a little different. I don't like leggings, especially when paired with a short top — they’re not meant to be trousers.

Who? Fearne Cotton is a little bit different and she looks great. However, I wouldn’t wear the same clothes as Rihanna, her style just isn’t me.

  • Monthly spend £200

Orlaith McAlea (19)

Student, Belfast

Wore what? Top, £45, leggings, £40, both from Zara; boots, £150, Kurt Geiger; bag, £40, River Island.

Why? My style is quite girly and I wear heels all the time. I don't like a dressed down or casual style, such as lumberjack shirts or football tops.

Who? I really like Eva Longoria's feminine style but Pink doesn't look girly enough.

  • Monthly spend £100-200
