Lucinda enjoys life in the limelight... thanks to the Tele

A curvy computer whiz who swapped geek for chic when she appeared in the pages of Italian Vogue said she has been overwhelmed by the messages of support she has received since featuring in the Belfast Telegraph this week.

Dungannon IT worker turned curvaceous model Lucinda Casey (38) has even received an offer for a contract from a Belfast modelling agency.

Her appearance was quite a shock to her parents, who were Christmas shopping when they opened a copy of the Belfast Telegraph to see their daughter smiling back at them.

“They weren’t prepared for it,” she said.

IT manager Lucinda first shut down her computer spreadsheets to slip on some killer heels and couture fashion garments after she was spotted at a charity event by a model agent.

Strutting her stuff on the catwalk to represent curvy women, Lucinda’s photograph was then picked up by glossy style bible Italian Vogue to feature in a Curves in Couture fashion spread.

The Belfast Telegraph’s article on Lucinda’s success story has caused a storm of excitement in her home town of Dungannon, and the London-based computer expert said her phone hasn’t stopped ringing since.

“Since you ran the story my phone hasn’t stopped, my family’s phones haven’t stopped, from friends and family ringing,” she said.

“It’s really wonderful, I’m hearing already from some friends that are feeling more relaxed about themselves and with Christmas coming up people can worry about putting on weight and what they’re going to eat.

“The feedback has been really positive. I think it’s wonderful, there’s been an overwhelming warmth and positivity from people at home.”

And her social networks have been buzzing with activity.

“I’ve had lots of comments and followers on Facebook and Twitter,” she said. “Lots of friend requests coming in, and I don’t really write anything except posting quotes on positivity and gratitude.”

Lucinda was also invited to speak on the radio yesterday.

“It’s all really new to me, but it is quite exciting,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to coming home now.”

Originally from Co Tyrone, Lucinda Casey (38) is a London-based freelance IT programme manager. She has worked for some of the top FTSE 100 and blue-chip companies in the UK.
