Northern Ireland’s leading vintage fair brings festive fun to Cookstown historical home

Vintage fever will be taking Mid-Ulster by storm on 2nd December when Northern Ireland’s longest running vintage event, the fabulous Frock Around The Clock Vintage Fair, will be visiting Lissan House in Cookstown for the first time, with an extravaganza of vintage treasures for sale and a big helping of timeless glamour, reminiscence and fun.

Frock Around The Clock: A Very Vintage Christmas Fair will be a vintage spectacular for all the family, and promises not to disappoint with an amazing line-up of over 40 Irish vintage dealers and creative designers offering a fantastic array of vintage and handmade fashion, jewellery, furniture, homewares, collectables, sweet treats, crafts & gifts, Christmas decorations and much more, making it the hottest shopping destination this December to find the coolest stuff on the planet for your wardrobe, home and Christmas stocking!

As well as the vintage & craft fair, there will festive nostalgia and fun to delight the whole family. Live entertainment will be provided throughout the day by The Mystery Sisters New Old-Fangled Swing Show (a production from the widely-acclaimed Wireless Mystery Theatre). Accompanied by the Wireless Jazz Ensemble, the Mystery Sisters will delight visitors to the Frock Around The Clock Christmas event with a mix of song, dance, jingles and harmonies with a 1940s festive flavour. Since the Mystery Sisters made their debut on the stage of the Ulster Hall in December 2011 they have performed in venues around the province and have been in great demand for live performance, weddings, and corporate events. They have appeared regularly on BBC Radio Ulster, and their bespoke show for the Allianz Arts & Business awards 2012 in the Lyric Theatre won the gold CIPR Pride PR event award, having been the only Northern Irish event to be nominated.

Educational fun for all the family will be taking place in the Lissan bedrooms converted to WWII flats, where Time Steps Living History will be unravelling and revealing the past for the people of the present. Everyone will be invited to meet local billeting officer, Inspector Eva Jones, as she prepares for the Christmas celebrations of 1942. Eva will take you through festive life on the home front, from Make Do and Mend decorations to carrot Christmas pudding. Visitors will be able to stir the pudding and make a wish, coupon-free, try out some wartime Christmas toys and get present ideas for their little evacuees. Black Marketers will not be allowed, but trading with the GIs will be – it is Christmas after all!

Take a break from shopping and celebrating to relax and revive in the vintage tea room run by The Tea Boutique NI, where all the scrumptious delights of afternoon tea will be served on pretty vintage china with a dollop of good old-fashioned service on the side.

Frock Around The Clock: A Very Vintage Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday 2nd December from 12 - 6pm at Lissan House, Drumgrass Road, Cookstown BT80 9SW. Admission will cost £7 for adults, £3 for children, or £16 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
