Pam's People: All the ingredients for a great charity night

By Pamela Ballantine

It may surprise you to know that some of our best-known and loved brands are brought to us by one company, the SHS Group, and this year the staff have picked Marie Curie as their chosen charity.

They were able to use some of their own ingredients to help with fundraising as they held a Bake Off competition and no better lady to judge the culinary delights than chef Jenny Bristow who was more than impressed by their efforts.

The Best Western Plus White Horse Hotel up in the North West was the venue to celebrate the efforts of the frontline staff of the hospitality industry.

The Northern Ireland Hotel Federation Hotel and Guesthouse Receptionist gala eleventh annual awards ceremony has become a really popular event in the industry's calendar.

I don't know who was looking after the front of house while the receptionists were celebrating but they all truly deserved their time in the spotlight.

Shoppers at Tesco Extra Knocknagoney got a bit of a treat last week when they were offered makeovers.

This is all part of an expansion by the supermarket chain at its flagship store which has also had a huge makeover, having been in East Belfast for the last 15 years.

The store's £2.2 million refresh has created 30 new jobs, 20 of them in the new Beautyworld department.

Now you can buy your blusher with your beans or Armani with your apples.
